Friday Photo — Cobbler + Gelato = Delicious
We’ve paid a few visits to the new(ish) bricks-and-mortar storefront of VIA Gelato since they opened up earlier this spring. It’s an adorable space in Kaimuki and—ideally for us—the permanent location means we don’t have to chase the gelato truck down via Twitter anymore! No more frantically zooming over to Kahala to eat our cones standing on the street 10 minutes before the truck drives off. When the gelato craving hits, we know exactly where to go (and we have a couple extra hours to ...

Last weekend we had a delightful four days on Maui to enjoy the Maui AgFest and the events leading up to it. This year’s festival added on an extra dining event on Thursday, plus some additional events we were invited to attend to get to know the chefs better. Four chefs from Canada also made the trip very far south, and their presence added a lot to the festivities. More on all of this soon! I swear! For now, a fun photo of some of the chefs posing for a mass-selfie-a-la-Ellen-at-the-Oscar ...

Ka‘ana Kitchen and Other Birthday Treats
This year, for the first time in a very long time, I celebrated my birthday away from home! Shake had to work on Maui, so he bought me a plane ticket so I could come along and lounge at the swanky Ritz-Carlton Kapalua pool while he did his thang talking to them about one of their cool programs. Whoopee! This ranks way up there in the pantheon of “Best Birthdays.” Totally right with my fifth birthday when my parents threw me a party at Farrell’s and had Professor Fun entertain all the ki ...
