We’re told it’s fall. You wouldn’t know it from the heat in our house. We’re also told that in the fall, people go apple-picking. Wouldn’t know much about that either.

However, this summer, on our great National Parks road trip we got to go on our very first apple picking adventure! Here’s our loot:

At Capitol Reef National Park, there is a historic settlement called Fruita. As you can probably guess from the name, it was an orchard community. Visitors to the park are allowed to go into the orchards and pick the ripe fruit. You can eat all you want and there’s a nominal “honor box” fee for fruit you carry away.
