I skipped last week’s Friday Photo because—and this is the honest truth—I forgot it was Friday. Actually, I forgot that Thanksgiving was Thursday, so on Friday I was lazing around the house thinking it was Saturday and realized in the early evening that I’d neglected to post a Friday pic.

So here is the photo I would have posted last week:

Thanksgiving dessert: Maple Cheesecake with Roasted Pears. Recipe from Martha Stewart. © 2013 Sugar + Shake

This is the Maple Cheesecake with Roasted Pears that I made for our Thanksgiving dessert. The recipe is from Martha Stewart, although I swapped out her vanilla wafer crust for the Momofuku Milk Bar Graham Cracker Pie Crust, which is the best ever. (More on that in a future post.)

If you decide to make this, you should be forewarned: it’s not very maple-y. I don’t know what’s up with Martha, but there’s clearly not enough maple syrup in the cheesecake batter. It is, on the other hand, a very light, not too sweet, cheesecake. And, best of all on a busy Thanksgiving cooking day, it’s no-bake! I would probably use the cheesecake recipe again as a base for adding other flavorings, like fruits or chocolate chips.

On the other hand, the roasted pears glazed with maple syrup were delicious!

What did you all have for Thanksgiving dessert?
